About the Artist
Francesco Cipollone is a self-taught artist specializing in abstract painting and drawing from imagination. His work launches from the human figure, landscapes and architecture into an exploration of the dynamic connection and morphology across all forms. Each piece represents his endless curiosity with the natural world and a constant drive towards discovery and invention with oil paint, ink, charcoal or pencil.
Born in Calabria, Italy and raised in New York City, Francesco received degrees in both electrical and financial engineering from The Cooper Union and Columbia University. In the early 2000s, he worked directly for David Bowie, the New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns in creating their first websites. From 2003 to 2018, he pursued a double life as a pro skydiver and capital markets specialist. Since 2019, he has been completely dedicated to creating and sharing his artwork.
As a professional skydiver, he taught the art of body flight to students around the world for over 15 years. As a surfer, he enjoys the rush and flow that comes from harnessing the ocean’s strength under his feet. Both fuel his passion for exploring dynamic movement, evolving shapes and kinetic forms.
Francesco works from his studio in the San Juan hills of Nosara, Costa Rica where he is inspired daily by its lush jungle setting, the majestic cloudscapes over the Pacific Ocean and the colorful flora and fauna that surrounds him. He returns to New York City and Italy often to study, find inspiration and deliver artwork to international buyers.
